Hyundai Service Tips: How to Change a Flat Tire

October 20th, 2020 by

Getting a flat tire is common, and it can happen to any car, truck, or SUV. Potholes, broken glass, and other sharp objects can sometimes cause flat tires, but what happens when you blow out on the road? You can always call your roadside assistance, but if that’s not an option, you can do it yourself.

To help you out, our Hyundai service experts have compiled this quick guide on how to change a flat tire yourself.

Move to a Safe Spot

First, identify a safe spot to pull over. Look for available room on the shoulder of the road away from oncoming traffic. If possible, simply exit the road or highway altogether and find a side street with less traffic.

Locate Your Spare Tire

Next, you want to find your spare tire. It’s usually located in the trunk under the floor mat.

Once you’ve found the spare, place it by your flat tire. Using a jack and tire wrench, raise your vehicle enough to get the wheel off the ground, take off the flat tire from your car, and proceed with the replacement.
