The following tools can help fix scratches and dings on a car:

• Sandpaper: Surface-level scratches can be removed using 2000-grit sandpaper. Clean the area and rub the sandpaper over the scratch. Once you’re done, apply a rubbing compound to smooth it out.
• Candle wax: This is not a long-term fix, but if you rub wax over a scratch, you can seal it up.
• Plunger: Level out a car ding by pulling out the affected area with a plunger.
• Hammer or mallet: Level out a dent from the opposite side using a hammer or mallet. Make sure to protect the area with a towel.
